AGM Update

Ahead of the AGM scheduled for Monday 11th December, following on from Open Forum (held 13th Nov) and agreed at our November Executive Committee meeting (held 21st Nov), the club are proposing to make the following changes:

Existing Bar and Social Group to be split into two groups: Bar Operations (existing lead– Mitch Wood) and Social & Fundraising (new working group).

We would like the 1st Team Captain and Women’s Team Captain to sit on the Executive Committee, to give our players a greater representation on the committee, ensuring we continue to be cricket focused as a club.

The club now welcome nominations to the vacant position of Social & Fundraising Lead, prior to 27th November deadline.

Further, existing 1st Team Captain Ryan Fitton has indicated his intentions not to play next season, which is tremendously disappointing. The club would like to place on record it’s thanks to Ryan for a strong 2023 season as captain. As such, the club are now seeking nominations for the position.

All nominations for the positions above or any other position, need to be submitted by 8pm on Monday 27th November, by emailing mottramcricket@gmail.com.

Agenda, Associated Documentation and Printing

After the 27th November, the agenda and any necessary associated documentation will be finalised. Documents will be available for download on the club website and emailed out to members on our database. The club accounts will be available prior to the meeting by request to mottramcricket@gmail.com and discussed at a top level on the night.

Unfortunately, we cannot print documentation for 80 plus people for cost and environmental reasons. Therefore, if you wish to print any documentation, please download the material once it is available on the website and print it beforehand. Documentation will also be shown on screens.

Other Resolutions

Currently, there are no other proposed resolutions or orders of business. There is no recourse at the AGM for unannounced business.

Anyone wishing to raise a specific rule(s) resolution or an item for Any Other Business must do so by 8pm on Monday 27th November by emailing mottramcricket@gmail.com.

Nigel Corless Elected Club Chair; Stephen Scott To Lead Junior Section

Mottram Cricket Club is pleased to confirm that Nigel Corless has been elected as the new club chair , following a vote of members at an EGM on Monday 10th August. Nigel now takes over the position from Ayrton Fielding, who has stepped away from the role due to family and work commitments. The committee would like to thank Graham Holt for also standing to be Chair. Graham is a life member, who has previously held the Chair and President roles at the club. Nigel is a well-known face around the club who was already serving on the Committee as Grounds and Facilities Lead. He is also lead coach of our Women’s Team and a regular member of our Over 40’s team. Speaking to members at the EGM, Nigel said: "Being chair of this club is a privilege and a huge responsibility. It is not just about standing at the front and directing, but standing behind the club and ensuring it thrives for future generations . We have 7 seniors teams, including 2 women's teams and a growing, successful junior section. I think with some further developments, on and off the field, we can realise the full potential of our club and create a legacy that lasts well beyond any single season ." Stephen Scott was also confirmed as the new Junior Cricket Lead at the EGM. Stephen is the current 4th XI captain and will continue in this role alongside his new role with the junior set-up. He replaces Chris Green-Buckley who remains 3rd XI captain but has stepped down from the junior role due to increased work committments On being confirmed in the role, Stephen said: "I am very excited and proud to be taking up this role. I have seen first hand as 4th XI captain and a parent, the good work that has gone into the junior set-up over the past few years. I am looking forward to getting stuck in and helping take it to new heights. Thank you to Chris for his hard work and leaving it in an exciting position."
