Ayrton Fielding To Stand Down As Club Chair

Dear Members,

Club Chair, Ayrton Fielding, has informed the committee that he intends to step down from the role. He has agreed to remain in position as Chair until a successor has been identified and ratified by the club’s membership.

Ayrton’s decision brings to an end his second spell as the club’s chair. Having initially been Chair from 2012 to 2023, he agreed to return in 2025.

Over the two spells as Chair, Ayrton has overseen significant growth in the club's playing roster, junior section and social membership. The committee is extremely grateful to Ayrton for the time he has given to fulfilling this crucial role at the helm of the club.

Explaining his decision, Ayrton said:

“I think it’s always important that we take time to reflect on the things we’ve done well, the growth we’ve seen and the areas where we can strive for further improvement.

I am incredibly proud of the work we have done to take the club from struggling to field two sides, to having 7 senior teams and a 1st XI that currently sits in the 2nd tier of an ECB Premier Division.

When I took this role back on in 2025, I did so on a temporary basis and due to my work and personal commitments, I cannot give the role the time it deserves.

It’s clear to me, that the next few years are crucial and there’s lots of exciting potential on and off the cricket field we can harness. The Chair needs to be someone who has the time and drive needed to set out a vision for the club’s future growth.”

Nominations are now open for the role of Club Chair.

Nominations can be made via email to mottramcricket@gmail.com until 20.00 on Friday 17th July. Please identify who has seconded the nomination in the email.

Once nominations have closed, an EGM will be confirmed and communicated to allow the club’s membership to vote on the nominated candidates.
