As we move into 2022, the Cricket Club would like to wish all our members, friends and supporters a happy and properous New Year.

In this email, we have information and updates on:

  • 2022 Membership
  • Club Opening Hours & Bar Update
  • Quiz Nights
  • Senior Cricket
  • Junior Cricket
  • Sponsorship

2022 Membership

The committee have been hard at work so far this winter.

Ahead of the 2022 season, we have agreed a revised membership structure. Going forward, we will implement a monthly direct debit process which will see membership payments also cover costs such as training sessions and winter coaching, which previously required separate cash payments.

The committee is conscious that in previous seasons, parents and players have been required to provide membership payments as a lump sum whilst also being required to order new playing and training kit in a small window just before the season starts. By switching to monthly payments, we will reduce this burden and ensure the club receives vital income across the year including in the leaner winter months.

We believe this new model will enable members to maximise their access to the benefits of memberships whilst allowing us to continue investing in the growth of Mottram Cricket Club.

Further information on the new membership structure will be communicated shortly, with registration nights held for senior players and junior parents.

Club Opening Hours & Bar Update

The Cricket Club continue to invest in our facilities for all members and non-members to share. We're not hibernating this winter, and continue to open regularly. Everyone, members and non-members, are welcome.

Please keep your eye on the Club Facebook Group, for our weekly opening hours. By way of reminder, we have full Sky & BT TV across 3 screens, as well as fully stocked (and comparatively cheap!) bar.

We are encouraging all members to top up their members account with funds to spend at the bar. This benefits the club from an administrative and costs point of view, as well as the members for ease of purchase at the bar.

Please continue to support the club, by stopping by when you can.

Senior Cricket

Net sessions will be held at Total Cricket, Oxford St E, Ashton-under-Lyne OL7 0RE every Wednesday from 19th January, between 19:00 and 20:00.

All players playing in senior teams, are actively encouraged to attend.

GMCL fixtures for 2022, are due imminently. We will of course post them on the website, when we have them.

Junior Cricket

Pre-season sessions for all of our juniors are well underway.

All our age groups (U9s through to U18s) have been working hard at weekly sessions every Sunday at Glossopdale School.

These resume on Sunday 16th January and will run until the end of March.
2pm till 4pm - U9s, U11s, Girls Team

3pm till 4pm - U13s, U15s, U11s

Our U18s also have a dedicated weekly net session at Total Cricket, Thursdays 8pm.

New players of any age or ability are always welcome at MCC so please feel free free invite friends or family along.

We appreciate some cannot commit to attending weekly, but please join when you can as the season is getting ever nearer!

Competitive cricket has also returned for U9s and U11s who have been battling it out in the Dave Bardsley Super League each Friday Night at West Hill. Both teams have been involved in some absolute thrillers, with games running through till April.

Finally, junior consent Forms will be distributed to parents in the coming week. Please keep an eye out for these and return ASAP

Mottram Cricket Club is pleased to confirm that Nigel Corless has been elected as the new club chair , following a vote of members at an EGM on Monday 10th August. Nigel now takes over the position from Ayrton Fielding, who has stepped away from the role due to family and work commitments. The committee would like to thank Graham Holt for also standing to be Chair. Graham is a life member, who has previously held the Chair and President roles at the club. It is not just about standing at the front and directing, but standing behind the club and ensuring it thrives for future generations . We have 7 seniors teams, including 2 women's teams and a growing, successful junior section. I think with some further developments, on and off the field, we can realise the full potential of our club and create a legacy that lasts well beyond any single season ." Stephen Scott was also confirmed as the new Junior Cricket Lead at the EGM. Stephen is the current 4th XI captain and will continue in this role alongside his new role with the junior set-up. He replaces Chris Green-Buckley who remains 3rd XI captain but has stepped down from the junior role due to increased work committments On being confirmed in the role, Stephen said: "I am very excited and proud to be taking up this role. I have seen first hand as 4th XI captain and a parent, the good work that has gone into the junior set-up over the past few years. I am looking forward to getting stuck in and helping take it to new heights. Thank you to Chris for his hard work and leaving it in an exciting position."
