EGM Notice - Second Team Captain

Dear Members,

Following the notice by Liam Wright of his intentions to stand down as Second Team Captain, nominations for the position have been received. The club thanks Liam for his great service over the last couple of years. We hope to see him on the field again very soon.

The following people are standing for the position of 2nd Team Captain:

Phil Rowston
Paul Marks
Bailey Russell

According to the club rules, the minimum notice period to convene an Extraordinary General Meeting is 14 days and as such, take notice that an EGM has been ratified by the committee to take place at 8:30pm on Thursday 9th March at the Cricket Club with the following single item to be determined: 2nd XI Captain.

Voting Eligibility

Only current registered adult players who have played at senior level in the preceding season, Executive Committee members and Life Members are eligible to vote for senior playing captains and vice captains.

For the purposes of voting, adults are classified as anyone no longer eligible to play Under 18’s age group cricket.

Housekeeping

As there are 3 standing candidates, there will be 2 rounds of voting.

There will be a first round of voting, where the candidate with the least number of votes will be removed.

We will then proceed to a 2nd round of voting between the two remaining candidates. This will decide the winning candidate.

Note: Should there be an overwhelming vote for one candidate during Round One, this will be discussed with the candidates and a 2nd round may not be needed.

Nigel Corless Elected Club Chair; Stephen Scott To Lead Junior Section

Mottram Cricket Club is pleased to confirm that Nigel Corless has been elected as the new club chair , following a vote of members at an EGM on Monday 10th August. Nigel now takes over the position from Ayrton Fielding, who has stepped away from the role due to family and work commitments. The committee would like to thank Graham Holt for also standing to be Chair. Graham is a life member, who has previously held the Chair and President roles at the club. Nigel is a well-known face around the club who was already serving on the Committee as Grounds and Facilities Lead. He is also lead coach of our Women’s Team and a regular member of our Over 40’s team. Speaking to members at the EGM, Nigel said: "Being chair of this club is a privilege and a huge responsibility. It is not just about standing at the front and directing, but standing behind the club and ensuring it thrives for future generations . We have 7 seniors teams, including 2 women's teams and a growing, successful junior section. I think with some further developments, on and off the field, we can realise the full potential of our club and create a legacy that lasts well beyond any single season ." Stephen Scott was also confirmed as the new Junior Cricket Lead at the EGM. Stephen is the current 4th XI captain and will continue in this role alongside his new role with the junior set-up. He replaces Chris Green-Buckley who remains 3rd XI captain but has stepped down from the junior role due to increased work committments On being confirmed in the role, Stephen said: "I am very excited and proud to be taking up this role. I have seen first hand as 4th XI captain and a parent, the good work that has gone into the junior set-up over the past few years. I am looking forward to getting stuck in and helping take it to new heights. Thank you to Chris for his hard work and leaving it in an exciting position."
