June saw lots of cricket being played across all teams, with the bulk of the T20 fixtures being completed in the first team, as well as the Over 40's finally getting back out into the middle and countless junior games.

Junior Player of the Month

Junior Month of The Month for June, is Thomas Norris. 

A well-respected member of our U13s squad who has taken on additional responsibility as Vice-Captain, whilst also making the step up to become a regular member of our 15s team. 

An important bowling option for the U13s, he’s also worked hard in training to add more runs to his game and improve his all-round batting ability.  

Having started the season in the U15s with the odd batting cameo, he has become a real force during June, with his influence on the pitch increasing significantly. 

He’s taken 4 wickets across 3 games, including a game-changing spell against Werneth which swung the game decisively in Mottram’s favour. He followed this up with a wicket and a blinder of a catch during a 2nd win a row at Shaw. 

He has become a key cog of the U15s’ team spirit and camaraderie, demonstrating the Mottram Way values of training hard, playing fairly and putting the team first. 

An honourable mention also to Daniel Crudden, who was the backbone of our U15s batting throughout June. With scores of 33, 37 and 40 he has provided the team with the platform required to win games and run strong opponents close. He also made his 3rd team debut, scoring 24* against Clifton.

U9s Reds 

The U9s Reds have vanquished virtually all before them during a blockbuster June. They’ve won 6 of their 7 games and sit top of the GMCL U9s league with 13 wins from their 14 games. 

Demonstrating cricketing maturity beyond their years, they’ve received numerous plaudits from opposition coaches and parents for their attitude, enthusiasm and performances. 

Captain Niamh, William and Eggsy all have over 8 wickets each in the month. Thomas F and Niamh batting as the last pair have hit 6 sixes and 18 fours across June. 

It’s been a pleasure to watch them become a strong team, and an even stronger friendship. 

Senior Player of the month – June

The Player of the month for June is a really likable lad who joined us in the winter from Ashton, in Charlie Stafford.

Charlie started the month continuing his impressive form with the ball away at Royton, as he took 2 for 26 in 6 overs, helping to bowl them out for just 118. Job done you would assume! Not on this occasion as the batting falterd, Charlie formed a match winning partnership of 35 with Beechy to take the score from 84-8 to 119, with some lightening quick running between the wickets.

A further two second XI appearances against Heyside and Glossop respectively culminated with a promotion to the first XI for the final game of the month against Stretford.

You'd be forgiven for expecting him to be 2nd change. Instead, he seized the opportunity afforded to him by taking 2 wickets for just 12 runs from his 7 overs at the start of the Stretford innings, laying the tight and pressured foundations for Sub Pro Geeth Kumara to wreak havoc from the other end.
