Pre-Season Junior Update

What better time to give an update on junior cricket and the upcoming season than when it’s snowing sideways outside?

In this update we cover everything topical and junior cricket related, including:

Players and Parents Meeting

We will be holding a pre-season meeting for all Under 9, 11, 13 and 15s players and parents on Sunday 26th March, at the club at 16.30.

Each age group coach will speak to the room, setting our their focuses and objectives for the season, and how they will work with their team.

It will also be an opportunity for us to introduce the new Nominated Junior Parents.

There will be a separate session for the Under 18s team, provisionally on Thursday 13th April.

Friday Night Training – Returns 7^th April

With indoor training at Glossopdale finishing on Sunday 19^th March, we are pleased to confirm that outdoor Friday training will return on Good Friday, 7^th April at 6pm until 7.30pm.

As ever, Fridays will be for U9s through to U15s.

They remain FREE to members and £5 for non-members.

We are always looking for new players at all age groups, regardless of previous playing experience. Please spread the word. Newcomers get their first two sessions for free.

Junior Season – Confirmed First Fixture Dates

Our junior fixture lists are expected from the league in the next week or so, but they have confirmed that the season will start on Sunday 16^th April, except the U9s category which starts a week later.

This means first fixtures for each age group are:

U9s - Monday 24^th April
U11s Soft Ball - Sunday 16^th April
U11s Hard Ball - Wednesday 19^th April
U13s - Sunday 16^th April
U15s - Monday 17^th April
U18s - Wednesday 19^th April

U19s T20 cup fixtures are normally released in June.

The girls team will again play mixed age Soft Ball fixtures. The first of these is currently diarised for Saturday 29^th April, at home v Lindow.

All Stars

We are proud to be hosting All Stars for the first time ever, throughout May and June.

All Stars is an ECB run programme aimed at getting 4 to 8 year olds engaged with cricket.

It will be running at Mottram CC at 09.30am every Saturday from 6^th May to 24^th June.

Playing Kit and Leisurewear – Now Available!

Playing kit and leisurewear is now available on the fully stocked MCC online shop.

Adult and junior ranges are now in stock, including a new women’s training range.

The first order window will close on Sunday 19th March, in order to allow time for kit to arrive before the start of the senior season on 22^nd April.

Nigel Corless Elected Club Chair; Stephen Scott To Lead Junior Section

Mottram Cricket Club is pleased to confirm that Nigel Corless has been elected as the new club chair , following a vote of members at an EGM on Monday 10th August. Nigel now takes over the position from Ayrton Fielding, who has stepped away from the role due to family and work commitments. The committee would like to thank Graham Holt for also standing to be Chair. Graham is a life member, who has previously held the Chair and President roles at the club. Nigel is a well-known face around the club who was already serving on the Committee as Grounds and Facilities Lead. He is also lead coach of our Women’s Team and a regular member of our Over 40’s team. Speaking to members at the EGM, Nigel said: "Being chair of this club is a privilege and a huge responsibility. It is not just about standing at the front and directing, but standing behind the club and ensuring it thrives for future generations . We have 7 seniors teams, including 2 women's teams and a growing, successful junior section. I think with some further developments, on and off the field, we can realise the full potential of our club and create a legacy that lasts well beyond any single season ." Stephen Scott was also confirmed as the new Junior Cricket Lead at the EGM. Stephen is the current 4th XI captain and will continue in this role alongside his new role with the junior set-up. He replaces Chris Green-Buckley who remains 3rd XI captain but has stepped down from the junior role due to increased work committments On being confirmed in the role, Stephen said: "I am very excited and proud to be taking up this role. I have seen first hand as 4th XI captain and a parent, the good work that has gone into the junior set-up over the past few years. I am looking forward to getting stuck in and helping take it to new heights. Thank you to Chris for his hard work and leaving it in an exciting position."
